Receptionist/Administrator

  • Reports to: practice manager
  • Hours: shift patterns am & pm between surgery opening hours, 8:00am – 6.30pm

Job Summary:

To provide reception services to patients and visitors to the practice and direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional either in person or via the telephone.  You will also provide provide administrative assistance to the practice team including processing post and scanning.

You will liaise with other NHS bodies, healthcare providers and other professionals regarding issues relating to patient care.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Ensure an effective and efficient reception service is provided to patients and any other visitors to the practice.
  • Deal with all general enquiries, explain procedures and make new and follow-up appointments and contact patients if their appointment changes.
  • Receive and make telephone calls as required.  Divert calls and take messages, ensuring accuracy of detail and prompt appropriate delivery.
  • Open and scan post and ensure it is electronically distributed correctly.
  • Prepare outgoing post.
  • Contact patients in the event of any changes to their booking or a clinic.
  • Book transport and ambulances when required.
  • Ensure that all new patients are registered onto the computer system promptly and accurately.
  • Explain practice arrangements and formal requirements to new and temporary patients and ensure procedures are followed.
  • Action repeat prescription requests and ensure that they are ready for collection by the patient, either on the computer or manually and accept payment.
  • Advise patients of relevant charges for private (non General Medical Services) services, accept payment and issue receipts.
  • Enter patient information on to the computer and retrieve data as required.
  • Email patient information including referral details to other healthcare providers ensuring accuracy and following up where necessary.
  • Action electronic tasks and emails received from GP’s and other practice staff.
  • Prepare patient letters and invitations and set electronic diary dates for medical reviews.

Job description

We are a friendly rural GP practice working across two sites. We are looking for an efficient, dynamic and friendly receptionist/administrator to provide reception services to patients and visitors to the practice. You will direct patients in accessing the appropriate service or healthcare professional either in person or via the telephone. You will have experience in administration or working with the public on reception, ideally in a GP or healthcare setting but not essential as training will be given, but you must have excellent communication skills and be committed to great customer service.

You will be required to assist with holiday/sickness cover.

You may be required to work in our branch site at Derrydown Clinic.

Advanced Nurse Practitioner

Two Rivers Medical Partnership, an innovative general practice, requires another Advanced Nurse Practitioner.

Our friendly, supportive clinical team already consists three Advanced Nurse Practitioner, 6 general practitioners, two practice nurses and two healthcare assistants. We look after 9500 patients at Whitchurch Surgery in North Hampshire and Derrydown clinic in St Mary Bourne.

To provide continuity of care our Advanced Nurse practitioners work in a team with an individual GP to look after a list of patients. You will see patients with minor illnesses on the day and booked appointments, the successful applicant will be encouraged to develop their career and skills. We are a learning organisation providing excellent support for all the clinicians.

Full time or part-time considered. Salary dependant on qualification and experience.

Practice Care Coordinator

We are looking for a Care Coordinator to join our friendly supportive team at Two Rivers Medical Partnership. We are an innovative general practice looking after 9300 patients at Whitchurch Surgery in North Hampshire and Derrydown clinic in St Mary Bourne.

The role is based across both sites working within Winchester Rural North and East (WRNE) Primary Care Network.

What is a Care Coordinator?

A Care Coordinator is the first point of contact for patients and service users, providing an in-depth knowledge of practice and local community services.  You will be part of our reception team directly manage patient’s needs and supporting them to do so.

The Care Coordinator will understand the options available to patients within the surgery and the wider community and work with the reception and clinical teams to determine appropriate pathways for patients.  This may involve liaison with external organisations to understand their referral criteria and what patients can expect.

You will also work with and liaise with other Care Coordinators across WRNE Primary Care Network.

What skills do I need?

  • Confidence in, and experience of dealing with the public
  • High level of empathy and excellent communication skills
  • IT literacy, the ability to learn new systems and support others in how to use them
  • Experience in providing training and support to others

The ideal candidate would have experience of working in a GP surgery and knowledge of local services but this is not essential. The role is full time but job share will be considered.

Salary dependant on experience.
